2008 - June // OFA Wins CALQ Grant
Open Form Architecture is happy to announce that The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec has awarded the office with a Type B Research and Creation Grant for a 2008-2009 proposal entitled Architecture Prototypée: L’exploration d’une démarche architecturale appuyée par la fabrication digitale.
2008 - May // Open Form Architecture @ Pecha Kucha Montréal #5
Open Form Architecture presented their work at a special edition of Pecha Kucha #5 in Montréal (CA) as part of the Portes Ouvertes Design Montréal 2008. The crowd of 700 packed into Montréal's venerable SAT (Society for Arts and Technology) arts centre to see 12 presenters, all young Montréal design offices and artists. 2008 - January // Collaboration with The ARCOP Group
Darrel has recently joined The ARCOP Group in Montréal. He takes the job of stagiaire architect in this 40-person office with a 50 year history. The office has played an important role in the history of Canadian architecture since it's inception in the mid-fifties. The office is highly motivated to develop new design directions in its current stage of evolution.

Darrel Ronald joins the emerging Rotterdam office Powerhouse Company as their english text editor for the office's first publication. The publication date is set for mid-2007.

A new OFA Blog has been in development for the past month, mostly by Maxime Moreau as a platform for research into Los Angeles housing, but is now expanding. The blog fills the current gap between our website and new content while we develop version 2.0.

Maxwan a+u sends Darrel Ronald and Rients Dijkstra to present Project A101 at the 2007 MIPIM Developers Conference in Cannes, France. MIPIM Europe is one of the world's foremost property events, and this year had a record attendance of over 25.000 people from across the world.

Darrel Ronald joins the TU Delft (Chair of Metropolitan and Regional Design) to teach the Urbanism Studio for Master's Chinese Students on exchange from the universities of Schenzen and Nanjing.

2005 - November // Honourable Mention - City of Skyscrapers International Competition
Darrel Ronald wins an Honourable Mention for his entry in the City of Skyscrapers International Competition as part of EUPHORIA, the 3rd International Architecture Biennale Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Darrel Ronald relocates from Montréal (CA) to Rotterdam (NL) to work for Maxwan architects + urbanists.
2005 - April // RAIC Gold Medal Finalist
For his innovative work on the Master's Architecture Final Thesis Project, Darrel is a finalist for the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada's (RAIC) Gold Medal in Architecture.

Darrel Ronald, Maxime Moreau and Marie-eve Marchand win 1st Prize during a short competition for the Studio International 2005 at the Université de Montréal
2005 - March // OFA win 2nd Prize at the ACSA/ASA Charette
Darrel Ronald and Maxime Moreau win 2nd Prize during a competition for the ACSA/ASA Charette 2005 in Chicago (USA). Representing the Université de Montréal, the competition focused on innovative steel structural design. The site for the competition was the new Millennium Park in Chicago, facing the recently built Pritzker Pavilion by Frank Gehry.
